This just came in from Virtual Bird’s Eye reader Rob Evans.

While looking around at a friends house somewhere around Vineland, New Jersey he came across this VERY close shot of a little plane.

Nice find for sure!┬á Make sure when you view the Map you rotate around to the SOUTH view of the Bird’s Eye View – that’s where you’ll find the up close shot of the plane.

Stone Mountain is a granite dome monadnock located in Stone Mountain, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. At its summit, the elevation is 1,683 feet (513 m) amsl and 825 feet (251.5 m) above the surrounding plateau. The mountain extends underground to several surrounding counties. While Stone Mountain is the largest exposed granite ‘stone’ in the world in terms of overall exposed granite, it is only about one quarter the height of El Capitan in Yosemite (3,000 feet above valley level), the tallest known exposed granite monolith on earth. Stone Mountain is well-known not only for its geology, but also for the enormous bas-relief on its north face, the largest bas-relief in the world.┬á Three figures of the Confederate States of America are carved there: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. The Reno Arch Aerial and Birds Eye View

The original Reno Arch, built in 1926, didn’t say “The Biggest Little City in the World.” It wasn’t erected to add glitz to a downtown casino district (casino gambling didn’t become legal in Nevada until 1931), or even as a sign intended to symbolize Reno’s city pride. So what’s with this famous symbol?

It was inspired by the automobile and, more specifically, the completion of America’s first coast-to-coast motor routes, The Lincoln Highway and The Victory Highway*. The first iteration of the arch, planted at Virginia Street and Commercial Row, and dedicated by a cadre of Nevada and California politicians on October 23, 1926, promoted the Nevada Transcontinental Highways Exposition (held in Reno from June 25 to August 1, 1927).┬á Read More – Reno Arch History Downtown

New Harley Davidson Museum Aerial and Bird’s Eye View

Today marked the opening of the new Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee Wisconsin. This event has been 105 years in the making! At the museum they have items including the very first Harley Davidson ever built and also Elvis Presley’s Harley Davidson!

As you can see in the map below, the museum was just getting the foundation put in the ground. But in looking at the online map, the 3 buildings being shown would be the Archives on the left, the actual Museum on the right and the Museum Store (just being started) to the south. Until they update the photos, the grounds before construction can be seen in the Bird’s Eye View of the location.
