World Series 2008 Baseball – Aerial View of Rays and Phillies Fields

We have linked to these in the past, here and here, but wanted to just give a quick update and link in case you are a fan of MLB and wanted to see each field were the games are going to be played.┬á There isn’t much to look at for the Rays field, as it’s in a dome, but the Phillies field is open and can been seen from all Bird’s Eye View angles!

The Golden Goose Has Been Found

Chad Zimmerman over on The Earth Is Square found this unique set of roads in the middle of Pennsylvania that with some imagination represents a flying goose.┬á To top it off, there is even what┬áapperars to be an eye that makes it seem even more realistic (itΓÇÖs actually a house).┬á If you want to check out the area┬áusing a .kml file showing the outline of the goose┬áin Google Maps, head over to his site and give it a look.

Beaver Stadium, the home of the Nittany Lions, is one of the nation’s premier football venues. An expansion and renovation prior to the 2001 season added more than 12,000 seats, increasing the stadium’s capacity to 107,282 and easing the waiting list for season ticket requests from Penn State fans.

The second-largest stadium in the nation, the renovation and expansion added rest rooms and concession facilities, new scoreboards with instant-replay capability, and im-proved handicap access and pedestrian circulation patterns. The most noticeable changes are 60 enclosed skyboxes in a three-level structure above the East stands and an 11,500-seat upper deck in the South end zone. University of Pittsburgh Panthers – Aerial and Bird’s Eye View of Heinz Field

In Heinz Field, the Pittsburgh Panthers have one of the finest football stadiums in the country to call home.

Situated just north of Pittsburgh’s Point State Park, the horseshoe shaped stadium seats 65,000 people and provides a stunning view of the city’s breathtaking skyline and three rivers. Among its amenities are 122 luxury suites.
Heinz Field has a grass surface that stretches over two acres. One of the interesting features of Heinz’s grass field is its underground heating system. The heating system (24 heat sensors monitor temperature) is activated when the root zone (surface below sod) drops below 60 degrees. Approximately 35 miles of tubing runs in loops underneath the field. This aids in maintenance and growth.

Upon purchasing the Eagles in 1994, Jeffrey Lurie stated, unequivocally, that building a new, state-of-the-art stadium would be a key component in the effort to build the Eagles into an elite NFL franchise. Now, Lincoln Financial Field is home to the Eagles.┬á The construction of Lincoln Financial Field began on May 7, 2001. A little less than 28 months later, the stadium hosted its first event, a soccer match between Manchester United and FC Barcelona (8/3/03). Heinz Field (known as Steelers Stadium during construction) is a football stadium located in the North Shore neighborhood, just across the Allegheny River from downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is the home stadium facility of the Pittsburgh Steelers NFL franchise and the University of Pittsburgh Panthers college football team. The stadium sits on approximately 12.4 acres (50,000 m┬▓) of land and has a seating capacity of 65,050, including approximately 6,600 club seats and a capacity of approximately 1,500 in 127 suites. It was built with a mixture of private and public funds to replace Three Rivers Stadium. Three Rivers was also the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team; they moved into PNC Park before Three Rivers was demolished. One purpose of building the new facilities was to provide each team with a dedicated building rather than a single shared-use stadium. Heinz Field and PNC Park were built opposite each other across the Three Rivers site, which is now a parking lot serving both stadiums and the site of several office building developments. The Declaration House (Graff House) Aerial and Bird’s Eye View

Although the house where Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence was torn down in 1883, the house has been rebuilt in 1975 to be an almost exact copy thanks to the Independence Hall Association

Finding his lodging in the heart of the city uncomfortable, he removed to the rooms of Jacob Graff. Graff was a well-known bricklayer who had built his house on the outskirts of town but a year before Jefferson arrived. It’s probable that Jefferson had to pay a little extra for the rooms as they came furnished. The Graffs lived in the house while Jefferson undertook his task. Situated on the outskirts of town, surrounded by fields and a stable across the street, the house provided Jefferson with the space and distance from the city he needed for his task. – US History.org

It has a large number of elaborate roller coasters, children’s rides, and features one of the largest water parks in the country, Wildwater Kingdom. Dorney Park is one of the most popular amusement parks on the East Coast of the United States. It is an especially popular recreational destination for residents from Philadelphia and New York City, both of which are less than 90 miles (140 km) from the park. The exterior architecture – comprised primarily of multiple shades of red brick, precast concrete and granite complemented by the green roofs with a copper patina finish – combines the essence of Philadelphia’s rich tradition of sports architecture with an unmistakably 21st century style.

Black accent bricks patterned in the shape of baseball diamonds are inlaid across the top of the three primary facades. Additionally, along Pattison Avenue, the black bricks spell the word “Philadelphia” in 12′ high letters. The ballpark architecture is a welcome addition to this historic city. – Official Site
