Santa Anita Park opens annually on December 26, with daily racing continuing through April 20. In addition, Santa Anita’s fall meeting, presented by the Oak Tree Racing Association, takes to the track from late September to early November every year and will be home to the 2008 Breeders’ Cup World Championships.

Live racing is Thursday through Monday. On weekdays, gates open at 10:30 a.m. and post time for the first race is 1:00 p.m. Weekends through 2/2/08, gates open at 10:00 a.m. and post time for the first race is 12:00 p.m. and weekends beginning 2/9/08, gates open at 10:30 a.m. and first post is at 12:30 p.m. Consult the racing schedule for additional post times and special promotions. When the University of California launched a statewide campaign in October of 1921 to build a football stadium on campus in honor of the World War I participants who lost their lives on the battlefields abroad, the response and results were staggering. In only one month, generous supporters of the University pledged more than $1 million, and just two years later, one of the most beautiful athletic stadiums in the world was completed in picturesque Strawberry Canyon.

Now more than 80 seasons after its 1923 opening, the setting of Memorial Stadium remains one of the most breathtaking sights in all of college athletics. The plush wall of pine trees in the Berkeley Hills to the east is contrasted by a panoramic view of the San Francisco Bay and three bridges to the west. USC has played football in the Coliseum ever since the grand stadium was built in 1923. In fact, the Trojans played in the first varsity football game ever held there (beating Pomona College, 23-7, on Oct. 6, 1923). That game was preceded that day by the USC freshman team’s 30-0 win over Santa Ana High. The 1998 season marked the 75th anniversary of USC football in the Coliseum Construction on the Coliseum took less than 2 years, with ground breaking ceremonies held on Dec. 21, 1921, and work completed on May 1, 1923. August 20, 1967 ΓÇô the San Diego Chargers take the field to play their first game in the newly completed San Diego Stadium. Formerly the Los Angeles Chargers, owner Barron Hilton had been convinced by local sports writer Jack Murphy to move his team from the LA Coliseum to San Diego. Unfortunately, San Diego had no major league Stadium when the team moved here in 1961. Thus, Murphy’s next challenge was to convince the City to build a stadium for their team. This was accomplished when Proposition 1 passed by a wide margin and $27.75 million was authorized to build a new state-of-the-art multi-purpose stadium with 53,000 seats. The popular TV Show Big Brother has recently started for the 2008 season in the USA with a new set of house guests for us all to watch. Below is the house from an aerial view – make sure and click the Bird’s Eye view to get a closer look!

Big Brother is a reality television show. In each series, which lasts for around three months, a group of people (normally fewer than sixteen at any one time) live together full-time in the “Big Brother House”, isolated from the outside world but under the continuous gaze of television cameras. The Housemates try to win a cash prize by avoiding periodic, usually publicly-voted, evictions from the house. The idea for “Big Brother” came during a brainstorm session at the production house of John de Mol Produkties (an independent part of Endemol) on Thursday,September 4, 1997. The first Big Brother broadcast was in the Netherlands in 1999 on the Veronica TV channel. It has been a prime-time hit in almost 70 different countries. The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate, the opening of the San Francisco Bay onto the Pacific Ocean. As part of both US Highway 101 and California Route 1, it connects the city of San Francisco on the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County.

The Golden Gate Bridge had the longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1937 and has become an internationally recognized symbol of San Francisco and California. Since its completion, the span length has been surpassed by eight other bridges. It still has the second longest suspension bridge main span in the United States, after the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in New York City. Six Flags Magic Mountain Aerial and Birds Eye View

Six Flags Magic Mountain is an amusement park located just west of the Valencia neighborhood of Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles. It opened on Memorial Day weekend on May 29, 1971 as Magic Mountain, by the Newhall Land and Farming Company, the development company behind the district of Valencia. It was not until 1979, when the park was purchased by Six Flags, that the name was lengthened to include Six Flags. It is the only park in the chain to be open year-round.
